The 4 Common Skincare Mistakes You Can Make
No guilt trips – we’ve all been there! Just opt for better choices moving forward
01. Picking at Your Skin
I used to engage in this horrible habit especially after popping a pimple. This bad habit can leave long-term damage to your skin like scarring. This leaves behind spots that are far worse than the initial damage. That’s not the worse thing that can happen, though..you could possibly get an infection.
Instead of popping your pimples opt for a pimple patch or a spot treatment. I love using pimple patches, especially the ones that blend into my skin! You can check out all the goodies using the links below.

02. Sleeping with Makeup on
I believe most girls are guilty of this bad habit. While sleeping with makeup once in a while won’t do much damage to your skin – if you do it long-term, it becomes a bigger issue. Even if you don’t wear makeup, going to bed without washing your face is a huge nono. Pollutants, bacteria, dirt, and dead skin cells build up on your skin’s surface which makes it crucial to wash your face with a gentle cleanser every evening.
I understand sometimes life gets in the way, but just using makeup remover wipes won’t do your skin justice. Plus, sticking to your routine long-term sets the tone for healthy, beautiful, and glowing skin.
03. Not Drinking Enough Water
In case you didn’t know, the skin is 64% water so if you’re not hydrating regularly, your skin may be suffering. Of all the skincare tips I share, drinking the proper amount of water is at the top! There are so many benefits to making sure you’re hydrated. Experts suggest drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day or about half a gallon.
The bottle I use is the ARCANA Arc Water bottle and it’s very helpful in keeping me on track. It’s almost like I am competing with myself to make sure I stay on top of my water intake. You can see the bottle below. They come in two different sizes so you can choose which one is the best for you.

04. Over-Exfoliating Your Skin
When it comes to exfoliating, gentle is always the way to go. No matter the skin type. Your skin falls into one of these three categories: oily, dry, or combination. Each skin type will help to determine how often you should exfoliate without going overboard.
All my oily girlies have a natural sheen to their skin. My skin type is oily so naturally, I have a sheen to my skin, especially in the t-zone area. This is due to excess sebum or oily secretion, which leads to a buildup of impurities that clog the pores more frequently. Exfoliating 2 to 3 times a week is normally recommended to help balance out the skin and keep it looking healthy and vibrant. Check out a few of my exfoliating recommendations below.

Getting rid of those Common Skincare Mistakes
The key to forming new habits is to simply START*. Studies suggest it takes between 18 to 254 days to form a new habit. Habits are all about repetition, so the sooner you begin, the sooner your habit will become a part of your routine.
